Abstract statement
Strange that this indistinguishable thing needs clarity. My abstract works are a part of something larger. They present questions around what exists inside of us. My abstract works are the enlarged images of the microscopic happenings of the internal landscape. Where one sees faces and traces of objects, I see the inner workings of our existence at a biological and molecular level. Respiratory processes, inherited DNA, receptors and signals communicating the release of hormones when we’re in love or experience joy. These abstracts are the precursor to the figurative, they are cells working toward unity and at the same time an aerial view of humanity. The mark making within my abstract paintings convey energy, movement, rest, and all varieties of emotions that take refuge within us.
